Written by HRCap, Inc.

February 23, 2023

Overview & Mission

HRCap has officially launched our second annual Next-Gen Scholarship Program! We had launched our first-ever annual scholarship essay program last year and had a successful turnout with 180 submissions from 140 colleges and universities in the United States.

Through this scholarship, HRCap is committed to empowering student leaders aligned with HRCap’s core values in their communities. We will review students’ essays, activities, and academics to determine who embodies HRCap DNA.

The Top 6 students will receive scholarship awards: 1 gold award of $1,500, 2 silver awards of $1,000, and 3 bronze awards of $500 each. The Top 25 finalists will also be selected to receive a 1:1 resume review and career mentorship by our amazing team of recruiters, resume-writing experts, and career coaches.

Application Process

We officially launched the scholarship on our website with detailed instructions.

Only currently enrolled students who either identify as Asian American & Pacific Islander or are taking Asian American studies or Asian language courses may be eligible. Though U.S. Citizenship is not a requirement, students must be currently enrolled in a U.S.-based college or graduate school.

Students must register and make a bold.org account that contains their Education, GPA, Work Experience, Sports, Awards, Arts, and other activities or achievements if any. Students can also stand out by including a short paragraph describing who they are and a URL to their LinkedIn profile in the Bio section.

Students must submit a Leadership Essay (500-750 words) reflecting and answering all of the following questions:

(1) What does your AAPI culture mean to you, OR why are you interested in Asian American studies/languages?

(2) How do you display one or more of these qualities (service excellence, professionalism, integrity, cultural diversity, and/or human development) as a leader in your respective community?

The application deadline is May 14, 2023, and we will announce winners on June 14, 2023.

Tips on How to Write a Great Scholarship Essay

Based on last year’s application submissions, the scholarship essays that stood out did well in the following categories:

  1. On-Topic: The essay answers both questions fully and demonstrates leadership and HRCap values through concrete, specific examples.

  2. Organization: The essay is well-organized and easy to follow.

  3. Creativity: The student uses story-telling elements in their essay to make it unique and enjoyable to read.

  4. Grammar: There are little to no grammatical, spelling, or syntax errors because the student took time to proofread and revise their essay.

We hope to hear from more student leaders and look forward to reading how they lead the frontlines as multicultural leaders in their communities.
