2022 NJBIZ ICON Honors Awards Program, The Palace at Somerset Park
On June 28, 2022, NJBIZ (New Jersey’s leading business journal) held its annual NJBIZ ICON Honors Program at The Palace at Somerset Park to recognize and award the 2022 NJBIZ ICON Honorees.
Over 300 people gathered early morning to attend this year's award program to celebrate their respective executive honorees from companies such as Hackensack Meridian Health, Huntington Learning Center, State Farm Insurance, RWJBarnabas Health, Quest Diagnostics, and more.
This outstanding award program recognizes pioneering business leaders over the age of 60. A panel of seven independent judges reviewed and identified 41 business leaders who have made an impact on the state of New Jersey with their leading subject expertise, industry knowledge, and contributions to their respective communities. AnnMarie Karczmit, the GM of NJBIZ, noted they had the highest submissions of nominations this year and that the judges had a difficult time selecting the honorees.
Publisher of NJBIZ and host of the event, Ken Kiczales presented the NJBIZ ICON Honors award to Andrew Sungsoo Kim (Founder, CEO, and President of HRCap, Inc.), highlighted his HR expertise, and introduced him as being “instrumental in driving up the economy with business prosperity, developing multicultural leaders, and allowing diverse Asian-American representation in New Jersey.”
Since the inaugural NJBIZ ICON Honors program in 2017, CEO Andrew Kim is the first Korean-American honoree and one of very few Asian-Americans to receive the NJBIZ ICON Award. He also proudly represented the HR & Recruiting industry with nearly 40 years of expertise and leadership.
"I am very humbled to receive this award. I am proud of our teams that have accomplished great work together at HRCap. I am excited to add greater value to our community and clients not only in New Jersey but also nationwide and worldwide with our dedicated global team. I am also honored to serve and represent our Asian-American community." - Andrew Sungsoo Kim (Founder, CEO & President of HRCap, Inc.)

HRCap’s executive leadership team members gathered to proudly celebrate his accomplishments, and CEO Kim’s trusted advisors and industry partners were also in attendance to recognize this critical milestone for the greater Asian-American community.
When asked to share their thoughts on the event and on the importance of the event for the Asian-American community, many shared their thoughts. To highlight just a few:
“We are all set to be examples, not only to our peers but also to people who may follow in our footsteps. Mr. Kim is definitely a proven, charismatic leader who has led by example. He is the engine that drives the economy and a living example for others to give back to the community. He’s been a proven community and business leader, not just in New Jersey but also internationally. This is a very prestigious award, and it’s not given out lightly. I am so pleased that NJBIZ has seen and recognized his leadership qualities, which are a reflection of the Asian drive and achievement.” - SY Kim (Partner at Cullen & Dykman LLP)
“I genuinely congratulate our CEO for winning this iconic award. This means a lot to our company and our community. This is a quintessential example of strong leadership. I am excited to be part of HRCap’s future under his leadership.” - Sang Shin (Vice President at HRCap)
“I am so proud that CEO Kim’s dedication to HRCap, devotion to his clients, and vision to mobilize the global labor market have finally been recognized by the mainstream. We often look up to and follow those that we can resonate and identify with, and CEO Kim is a leader that many will continue to look up to for inspiration.” - Won Hwangbo (Chairman at KOCHAM)
“Even though there are a lot of fellow Asian American business leaders, there’s not really a lot of exposure and mainstream representation. I believe our CEO receiving this award will inspire other Asian-American business leaders to become active leaders and increase representation for the future of work." - Michelle Kim (Executive Recruiting Manager at HRCap)
