On December 12, 2024, NJBIZ Magazine, New Jersey’s leading business journal, hosted its 19th annual NJBIZ Business of the Year Awards at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Somerset NJ. This annual awards program recognizes exceptional companies and individuals for their significant contributions to the economy, advancements to the industry, and dedication to the community.
Around 300 people attended this year’s awards ceremony to celebrate their respective honorees from reputable companies such as AmeriHealth, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, RWJBarnabas Health, and Atlantic City Electric. This year, NJBIZ received twice as many nominations, the highest record in their 19-year history of the award program, which was reviewed by an independent panel of eight executive judges, who were all past recipients of the NJBIZ Business of the Year Awards.
AnnMarie Karczmit, NJBIZ Associate Publisher and General Manager, began the awards ceremony and passed it over to Jeff Kanige, NJBIZ Editor, who announced finalists and winners of each award categories for For Profit, Nonprofit, Family Business, Corporate Citizen, and Emerging Business of the Year.
The highlight of the awards ceremony was the Executive of the Year Award, presented to three trailblazing executives who displayed outstanding leadership and dedication to their fields. HRCap’s Founder, CEO, and President, Andrew Sungsoo Kim won the 2024 Executive of the Year Award in the Family Business category. Michael Lovett (President and CEO of Consensus Health) was named Executive of the Year for For Profit Business, and Michael Maron (President and CEO of Holy Name Medical Center) was honored as Executive of the Year for Nonprofit Business.
As the only Korean American executive to receive this prestigious award, CEO Kim’s recognition is a testament to his exceptional leadership, his contributions to the business community, and his commitment to providing service excellence. His trusted advisors, employees, and family attended the awards ceremony to celebrate this monumental achievement and recognition.
In celebration of this milestone, Munkyu Park, Deputy Consul General and Chief Representative of Ministry of Economy and Finance, remarked, "Congratulations on becoming New Jersey’s Top Executive as the first Korean American in the competitive mainstream U.S. market. Thank you for promoting K-Businesses across the nation and actively contributing to our Korean-American community with your expertise and leadership. We are so proud of you."
Mark Park, Mayor of Englewood Cliffs, also congratulated CEO Kim for receiving this award saying, "CEO Andrew Kim is well deserving of this prestigious recognition given his dedicated leadership in the Asian American community. It’s a great honor to know you and to partner with you in strengthening our Asian American community."
In response to receiving the Executive of the Year Award, CEO Kim expressed his sentiments, "As an entrepreneur, I am deeply humbled and excited to receive the NJBIZ Executive of the Year Award. I will continue to promote the value of K-HR in mainstream society and partner with our client organizations to effectively futureproof. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the support and encouragement to all leaders, advisors, and employees who have walked with me in my career journey."
At HRCap, we are proud of our CEO for receiving this recognition and look forward to growing under his leadership as we continue to foster meaningful client partnerships and achieve new milestones together.
